Celebrating the Life of Laurie Morrison || January 9th at 12:00 PM
Laurie was born in Limestone, NY. to her parents Mary Lee and Bill O’Connell. She grew up in Delevan, NY and attended Pioneer Central School. A graduate of Fredonia State University she started her career working at several local businesses and substitute teaching at Pioneer. On December 21, 1990, she married her high school sweetheart Robert Morrison. In August of 1994 they moved to North Carolina.
In North Carolina she began her career working as a Preschool Director. In 2003 she opened and became director of The Johnson Pond Learning Center in Fuquay-Varina. She loved her job; the staff, children, and parents. They also loved her as much. One of her favorite things was going to the infant room to rock one of the babies. Under her caring leadership the school excelled. She created a natural outdoor learning environment at JPLC that was recognized as an example to other schools throughout the state.
Laurie was also a vintage collector and dealer. She loved to go to estate sales and nothing made her happier than finding a bargain, the older the better.
Above all, Laurie was a caring and loving person that truly enjoyed life. She and Rob were best friends and nothing meant more to her than being Collin and Mikenna’s Mother. She was also a caring momma to many pets through the years.
